Biomechanics and Occupant Motion
"Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of biological systems by means of the methods of mechanics" * Combined with testing and computer modeling, biomechanics and occupant motion are applied to human movement in order to gain an understanding to:
- determine the injury potential in any collision
- demonstrate the effects of design changes for seat cushions, rollovers, roof intrusion, interaction with interior surfaces, occupant ejection, and any other dynamic event
- understand injury causation which may increase passenger safety
