Restraint Systems

Dr. Renfroe has studied the mechanical properties of seatbelt buckles and retractor systems.  Dr. Renfroe and Dr. Thorbole, Biomechanist & Occupant Motion Specialist, have an understanding of the interaction of the seatback and airbags in occupant motion during vehicle collisions. Most significantly they understand the effects of airbag deployment timing and seatback deflection during a collision on occupant injury potential.

The next video is an excerpt of an interview Dr. Renfroe did with CNN concerning his analysis of the fatal accident of Princess Diana.
